Incorporate Your Talent & Business For FREE

Hey My CSB Peeps,

If found something interesting today! If you're out in the world MAKING MONEY as a talent and/or are ACCRUING EXPENSES, or even FREELANCE-ING, take advantage of this. I definitely am!

Intuit's My Corporation is offering their incorporation services for FREE, when normally the cost is $150. I've never seen them do this before (actually I haven't seen any service do this before), and I doubt it will last that long. EDIT POST 2/6/09 - Now keep in mind that this is an incorporating fee discount, NOT a state filing discount. When you file for a business you have to pay incorporating and state fees, so with this offer I found, one fee is free. State filing fees in Florida range based off of the services you buy with it, but shouldn't cost more than about $100. - END EDIT POST 2/6/09

Reasons why you want to incorporate? Turn your talent into a business and more importantly, when it's tax time, you get to keep much more of your money. You just need to select:

1. the right company for you. Options are S-Corp, INC, LLC and others. You'll need to research which is best for you. But I can tell you that INCs and LLCs are most popular for artists and broadcast companies.

2. and a name. Easiest is to just incorporate your name. Like me, I'll probably just be doing Aprile Coleman Inc. Nothing fancy necessary.

If you have any questions, I'll answer them if I can. Just call, or Ning Me :)

Anyway, I hope I've intrigued you! And I highly recommend this for my fellow business minded professionals. Lata.

Hi! Ah, yes. I need to mention that. Just to let everybody know, incorporating fees are different from state fees. State filing is different with federal filing for incorporation because federal filing is allowing your business to form and state filing is allowing your business to operate in the state (for tax purposes). Just like when you file for taxes, you have your federal returns and your state returns. It bites, but it is what it is.

So yes, overall this discount is not 100% free. Sorry... forming a business never will be. But with this offer you can cut a large portion of your overall startup costs. Take advantage of it.

They give you $150 off but it is not 100% free. I tried to order it but it is still at least $100 due to fees.
