This is the letter I sent to Mr Banner:
I also graduated 2 years ago from the Davie location agree 100% with all of what PJ said and some..See, after you have graduated from CSB and 2 years of college, you would think you had enough training and not have a problem getting a job in Radio. Fact is:it is a fuckin bitch to get a job in radio and it was pitched as it was a sure thing. Then, I find that others who graduated AFTER me are getting jobs in radio and when I go for an interview, I find they were just hired and doing a show. Now that the school is closed, what kind of fuckin practice can I get since I am being shuttered away from the radio jobs I went to school for? I,like many of my other graduates, have put in a year or two or three in time learning, being ready for the moment, not cursing while in the booth, keeping logs, etc. and when you think you are working toward your goal, you are just working the pockets of a school who could give two shits what you do in your broadcasting career or life itself.THIS IS NOT IN DISRESPECT TO ANY TEACHER OR INSTRUCTOR. Joe, Angie(god bless her), Russ, Mychael and the other instructors with exception to Chris Hudspeth have all been cool and very helpful with advice on what to do to get a job so let that be clear. What gets to me is not only was I screwed, but the one who is a pilot got screwed, the one who is a electrician got screwed, the customer service rep got screwed:all those who went here to make a career out of themselves to not make shit money while dishing out 12 g's to go to school all got screwed. And, you and the "corporate" upper brass leading up to Dick have shit to say to those graduates..not even an honest answer or even an update on whats really going on?
Hey, since I cant get a job in radio, let me just push the envelope since it seems as though I wont be getting anywhere in my career soon or even an apology: What kind of school who makes more than 1.5 mill a year per school (15 students/class x $12,000 x 2 classes per semester x 4 semesters) can file for Ch. 11 bankrupcy and not even give any decent reason for closing or even can close down on its students? If you think I or any other graduate would continue making payments when I have lost my privelages, and in this economy, you are fuckin delirious. I have even told the company I was financed through not to expect seeing another piece of paper with funds from my name. Its bad enough when I went there, we were promised job placement and learn that went out the fuckin window after graduation. Its funny the school preaches the students stay part of the CSB family, but the parents cant keep tabs on whats going on with the business and let it sink faster than Enron or the stock market. Would you be pissed if the closest you got to being on the radio was completing an internship and doing studio time at the broadcasting school? If I wanted just an internship, I would have got one for free through BCC, not pay 12 grand for it. If all avenues were closed in your mind, would you blame me for all that I am writing here? I feel like I was suckered out of my money and I was not the only one who thought that and I am only talking about the 15 I graduated with. I can only count 3 out of 15 who have jobs in the business from my own class: Use can use that stat in the copy to the public next time you make another CSB commercial, IF we get to that point.
How about putting in the time for demos, sending out and going to stations with your resume every couple of months to keep filling out the same application every time and not get recognized, where was the chapter in class about that?
So, I am to live with A: losing a career, time, and money in school from here and from BCC B: losing my school for the second time since you HAD to move the school from Davie to Doral including the LIFETIME use of the studio and programs. I know I will be looked down upon once again for the action I am taking into this letter, but fuck it: you taught me to be true to my word and you or others act like I went to this school as a hobby when I went here to be a broadcaster. Lets explore the options of what CSB has left, shall we.. are we 1.going to reopen, 2. reopen some of the schools, 3. reopen under a different name since the CSB name went bankrupt, or what I am leaning toward 4. being told fuck you, school is closed and good luck find a job in radio with being a graduate from here.
There needs to be some action, something that can help people like me who dont have a job or a direction to go in move toward getting there. Things were just going smoothly in Doral and since this closed, I have nothing but a 50 hr a week job paying me shit and I am still going nowhere fast in my broadcasting career. Its has nothing to do with my attitude, mood, work ethic, or my drive, but the opportunity for advancement, what you said would be there, is not there. If people dont start getting answers, I can see and hear papers that will be filed in dade and broward counties by grads who will sue whats left of the school for breach of contract, among other things. I apologize for the language but not in the way it was used because maybe I or one of us can finally get some answers. So, David Banner or anyone else up to Dick, what is the State of CSB, and be real with us?
